Their Story

Hello! My name is Flor R, I am Mexican and I am 55 years old. During the...

year 2020, I went to the California hospital 5 times and they told me I had a boil and after taking five antibiotic treatments and it wasn't getting better my primary doctor sent me to the oncologist and the oncologist did an MRI, mammograms, ultrasound and scan my whole body and continued with a breast biopsy and thyroid tumor biopsy which were positive, they unexpectedly told me that they would remove the breast and ovaries because it was an aggressive cancer, so there was no time to put on a Porter. And I started a series of chemotherapies in a direct vein and in June 2021, I underwent breast cancer surgery, after the surgery I continued with another series of chemotherapies and as a consequence I was left with damaged nerves and tendons. I am still in therapy for recovery of arm movement since since then he has helped me walk with a walker. But today my dream is to undergo thyroid tumor surgery as soon as possible, although it scares me because I already know what it feels like when they scan you with radiation 18 and it was very toxic for me, even so I want to get rid of the constant fear I feel just thinking that every day that passes is more risk, even so I have to undergo a treatment with radioactive iodine. But I also need your economic mercy to be able to cope with the tremendous expense that rehabilitation is supposed to take me since my husband stopped working since I started this marathon treatment to assist me 24 hours a day without being able to work for different problems and not I have no type of economic income. My goal for this year is to strengthen my legs and leave the walker. My favorite song is Tatuajes by Joan Sebastian. What makes me happiest is going to the pool. In advance I reiterate my well-deserved thanks. Sincerely: FLOR

During this unprecented time, it's never been more important to help them find a safe, stable, supportive place to sleep at night.

We find that when we wrap a social home around someone, they gain the capacity to often find the physical home soon after.

You are invited to join one or many who seek to find a home this year.

The number one question I'm asked, is " Jeff, how do I respond when asked for help on the street? Samaritan is an answer to that question.

This is the first time in seven years people have seen me for who I am, not what I look like or come from.

Sometimes, you can feel really invisible and it can kind of feel al lot of times like there's no help out there. It was just nice to have people be like "Yea, we really want to help."
