Their Story

My name is Mirian, I am 51-year-old resident of South-Central Los Angeles....

Unfortunately, I got the bad end of post -COVID -19. It was a regular day with a cold that turned into covid symptoms, and I ended up hospitalized and intubated for 1 week. I really thought that was the last of me and because of that very moment I noticed an increased in my anxiety and depression. I was discharged but everything completely changed, I now travel with my oxygen. I have not been able to work and when I look for work, I don’t get hired due to my medical condition (oxygen dependent, cannot stand or sit for a long time). I am currently looking for any financial assistance or even a job that will accept me and not worry financially or live with the stressor about loosing my home. Aside from all the ups and downs, I am trying to make everyday the best as if it were my last. I am thankful for the support I’ve been given, a little can go so far.

These are our neighbors

During this unprecented time, it's never been more important to help them find a safe, stable, supportive place to sleep at night.

We find that when we wrap a social home around someone, they gain the capacity to often find the physical home soon after.

You are invited to join one or many who seek to find a home this year.

The number one question I'm asked, is " Jeff, how do I respond when asked for help on the street? Samaritan is an answer to that question.

This is the first time in seven years people have seen me for who I am, not what I look like or come from.

Thanks to samaritans for checking up on and feeding me… Don’t know how I would have ate or kept warm many nights without you.

Sometimes, you can feel really invisible and it can kind of feel al lot of times like there's no help out there. It was just nice to have people be like "Yea, we really want to help."
